Another interesting development is Google’s announcement of the future launch of +1. Google have yet to roll this out and is only trialling it with a limited number of users but what it effectively does is to allow users to vote for content they like. When fully launched a button will appear beside search results and, if you are logged into your Google Profile, you will be able to hit a +1 button. This is very much like the Facebook ‘like’ button and will give Google another signal on determining how relevant your Web site will be. This will be a further development of taking a more ‘social’ approach to search results

Google’s +1 is not a social network, per se. However, it is a voting system that will give Google a better idea of what content people like and don’t like. When they release the button for inclusion on Google search results you should be looking at ways to encourage users to +1 your site.
